Four detained in capital accused of supplying weapons for Juhu attack
Delhi Police Special Cell teams arrested four people on October 21 in connection with the October 18 shooting at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, officials said. Two of those taken into custody are women, whom investigators allege carried a pistol and rounds into Mumbai and handed the weapon to the assailants before the attack.
How authorities say the alleged supply chain worked
The arrests, made in Delhi and Haryana, were the latest development in an inquiry that began after three men on motorcycles opened fire at Shroff’s vehicle in Juhu on the evening of October 18. The Maharashtra Police detained three suspects in Rajasthan earlier in the investigation. According to police briefings and case documents reviewed by reporters, the four now arrested have been identified as Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, both from Sonipat in Haryana, and Radha, 23, and Babita, 23, from Uttar Pradesh.
Investigators say Kunal, who was recently out on bail in a separate arms case, arranged the movement of a pistol and about 20 rounds. He is alleged to have introduced the two women to members of the suspected gang and used an encrypted messaging application to remain in contact. The women are accused of carrying the pistol to Mumbai by train and abandoning it near the hotel where the shooters were staying, police sources said.
Gangster operating from abroad under scrutiny
Police told reporters they suspect the arrests are connected to instructions given by a gangster believed to be operating from abroad. The suspect named in multiple police statements is Anil Pandit, described as having links to organised crime networks. Officers said the inquiry is probing whether Pandit coordinated the operation and whether the three shooters and the supply module belong to a larger conspiratorial network.
Authorities have said they are also investigating potential links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a group that Indian police have accused in the past of orchestrating attacks and extortion schemes. Officials emphasised, however, that investigations are ongoing and that motive and final responsibility will be determined only after forensic and custodial interrogation deliver corroborating evidence.
Legal steps and transport to Mumbai for questioning
The four arrested were produced before a court under procedural provisions for transit remand, after which the Maharashtra Police Crime Investigation Department obtained permission to take them to Mumbai for custodial interrogation. Courts granted a three day transit remand, enabling Maharashtra investigators to question the suspects in custody about their roles in arranging and transporting the weapon and any wider chain of command.
What has been established so far
Based on public filings and police statements, the following elements of the case are under active verification: the exact provenance of the pistol and rounds, the route by which the weapon moved from its origin to Mumbai, the identity and roles of the three men who allegedly opened fire, and whether the actor was the specific intended target. Some police sources told reporters there is early material suggesting Tiger Shroff might not have been the original target, but officials cautioned that the claim remains provisional pending further evidence.
Why the arrests matter for public safety and policing
The latest arrests underscore two concerns for metropolitan policing in India. First, investigators are tracing an alleged interstate weapons supply chain that used ordinary passenger trains to move firearms, a pattern that, if confirmed, indicates low-risk avenues that organised criminals exploit to transfer arms. Second, the case highlights continuing questions about transnational coordination among criminal networks that allegedly run operations from abroad while recruiting and directing local facilitators.
Police reform and public safety experts say the case will test intelligence sharing across state forces, rapid forensic processing, and the ability of courts to balance investigative remand with suspects rights. Any proven foreign direction of an attack would also raise diplomatic and cross-border law enforcement cooperation issues.
What comes next
Investigators will continue forensic analysis, digital communications tracing, call and banking record checks, and custodial questioning. Maharashtra Police officers in Mumbai will seek to establish the movements of the three shooters before and after the attack, and whether the arrested supply module connected to other incidents. Prosecutors will decide on formal charges as evidence is filed.
For the public, the priority for police is to identify whether the incident was an isolated conspiracy or part of a wider pattern that requires preventive action. For the film industry and public figures, the episode has renewed debate about celebrity security and the responsibilities of state agencies to protect high risk individuals while preserving civil liberties.
Authorities have not released any chargesheets yet. Police have urged patience while investigators complete technical examinations and interrogations necessary to present a prosecutable case. As the probe proceeds, updates from the Mumbai and Delhi police teams are expected to follow over the coming days.
