Environment Agency declares drought in Yorkshire as reservoirs and rivers run low
The Environment Agency has declared Yorkshire in drought on 9 October 2026 after months of below average spring and summer rainfall left reservoirs and river flows persistently low. The designation triggers intensified monitoring and co ordinated action by national and local agencies, and adds Yorkshire to most of central, southern and eastern England already in drought status.
