Police urge vigilance after Staffordshire gift card phone scam warning as similar alerts mount across England
Staffordshire Police issued a fresh warning on October 3, 2026 after a local resident was tricked into buying £2,000 of gift cards following phone calls impersonating police. Authorities say the method is part of a nationwide pattern of impersonation and gift card fraud and urge people to hang up, verify callers and report attempts to Report Fraud.
