Smoke Screen Brings Award-Winning Security Fog into the Connected Era

Three decades and six industry awards on from pioneering the category, the UK fog generator manufacturer completes its connected platform — BSIA member, CySPAG cyber accreditation, Ajax and Hikvision integration, remote monitoring, and battery-powered deployment.

SWINESHEAD, LINCOLNSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM 8/10/2026 — Smoke Screen, the UK manufacturer and pioneer of security fog technology, today announced the completion of its connected security platform: the company’s V2 IP Card has achieved CySPAG accreditation under the British Security Industry Association’s (BSIA) cyber security scheme, arriving alongside the Sentience remote monitoring platform and official integrations with the Ajax and Hikvision wireless alarm ecosystems.

The announcement pairs the company’s newest engineering with its oldest principle. While conventional security records crime, Smoke Screen’s fog generators stop it: triggered by an intruder alarm, a Sentinel unit fills a protected space with dense, harmless fog in seconds — reducing visibility to centimetres so intruders cannot see to steal. The fog is non-toxic and residue-free, safe for people, stock and running electronics.

The results are documented across three decades of deployments. Brazilian banking group Itaú Unibanco, facing 40 ATM attacks a month, deployed Smoke Screen as its answer. Their is a reason why the largest retail stores in the UK trust Smoke Screen as their security fog provider.

A cyber-accredited connected platform

As physical security joins the network, it inherits network risk — and the BSIA’s CySPAG (Cyber Security Product Assurance Group) scheme exists to assure that connected security devices meet rigorous cyber security requirements. With the V2 IP Card’s accreditation, Smoke Screen joins a small list of CySPAG-registered UK security manufacturers, and the card now progresses into testing for Secured by Design’s Secure Connected Device accreditation. It reaches installations very shortly, powering every connected fog generator the company ships.

At the platform’s heart is Sentience, Smoke Screen’s remote monitoring system, which verifies the health and armed status of every connected fog generator across an estate — one shop or two hundred — from a single interface, with Node 4G extending coverage to sites without reliable network infrastructure.

Native to the alarm systems installers already trust

Smoke Screen’s Sentinel fog generators are officially Ajax Ready, integrating with Ajax wireless alarm systems through two pre-installed wireless relays — with 15–20 second deployment, 40+ minutes of protection and full app control, no extra cabling required. The company is also an official Hikvision Solution Partner, with Sentinel fog generators integrating with Hikvision’s AX Pro wireless alarm range. Together, the two integrations make certified active protection a native add-on inside the wireless ecosystems that dominate professional installation.

The Sentinel family spans the compact SC20 through the high-output S150 for warehouses and industrial sites, alongside the battery-powered Sentinel Go for locations without mains power — construction cabins, containers, farms and off-grid compounds — and the Xenon Flash and Sound Barrier S3B deterrents.

Three decades of recognised engineering

Smoke Screen’s innovation has been recognised across the security industry’s most respected platforms: IFSEC’s Most Innovative UK Security Project or Installation (2005), Best New Physical Security Product (2007) and Physical Security Product of the Year (2009); the BT Technology Awards’ Loss Prevention Product of the Year (2010); the IFSEC International Partnership Award (2017); and a Highly Commended at the 2023 Fraud Awards for its work supporting the retail sector. The company has held ISO 9001 certification since 2018 and ISO 14001 environmental certification, both re-certified in December 2024, and every Sentinel fog generator is certified to EN 50131-8 / IEC 62642-8 — the international intrusion-systems standard specifically governing security fog devices.

DRAFT QUOTE

“Every award on our wall traces back to the same engineering brief we set three decades ago: don’t record the crime — stop it. What is changing in 2026 and 2027 security landscape is accountability. being  accredited by initiatives like CySPAG means our connectivity is as defensible as the fog.

And being connected with your security fog system is now so important. Our monitoring platform Sentience means you know every unit is ready. You can audit trail in Sentience and hold your alarms companies accountable, and even us. We’ve always stood by our quality products and now we can stand by our new services like Sentience too. Its not just enough to have fog machines anymore. We’ve evolved. ” — Matt Gilmartin, Managing Director, Smoke Screen
